Health Information Management Coordinator

We are currently seeking a Full time, Health Information Management Coordinator, at Belmont Behavioral Hospital.

The Health Information Management Coordinator maintains medical record integrity through filing, assembling and retrieving confidential patient records.  The Health Information Management Coordinator will:

 

Assist in planning, directing, and monitoring daily operations for medical records including: retrieval, assembly, scanning, analyzing, coding, completion, transcription, and release of information.   Review records and abstract clinical data in accordance with Joint Commission specifications as it relates to Hospital-Based Inpatient Psychiatric Services (HBIPS) Core Measures.   Train staff as needed on HBIPS Core Measure requirements.   Report facility restraint data to Joint Commission in accordance with specified timeframes.   Preform scheduled and unscheduled clinical medical record audits for compliance, regulatory agencies, and internal performance improvement processes.     Monitor Bill Selection Error Report daily, working closely with the Business Office to ensure all accounts are coded in a timely manner.   Participate in and provides requested/required data to committees as assigned, including Performance Improvement, Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement, Medical Staff, and Chart to Charge.   Provide education/consultation to staff on HIM/Privacy topics for routine activities.   Serve as a resource to the forms process and work with HIM Manager to develop and/or revise forms to take through approval process.   Maintain working knowledge of facility policies and procedures, CMS regulations, Joint Commission standards, and state regulations as it pertains to HIM.

 

The ideal candidate will:

High School diploma or equivalent required.  Bachelor's highly preferred. Three years' experience in psychiatric setting or combination of education and experience necessary.  RHIT or RHIA preferred.
