Position Overview:
The Senior Health Information Management Technician is responsible for providing leadership and expertise to the health information management team. This role involves supervising, training, and coordinating the activities of the team, overseeing the maintenance and organization of patient health records, ensuring data accuracy, and upholding compliance with regulations.

What you will do:

Lead, mentor, and provide guidance to the health information management team, promoting a culture of collaboration, accountability, and excellence.Assign tasks, monitor performance, and manage workflow to ensure efficient and accurate execution of duties.Oversee the organization, updating, and maintenance of physical and electronic patient health records, ensuring compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.Conduct regular audits to confirm the completeness, accuracy, and security of medical records.Ensure accurate entry and updating of patient information, including diagnoses, procedures, and other clinical data.Verify the appropriate assignment of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes to medical records, following coding guidelines.Manage requests for medical records from authorized individuals, ensuring compliance with patient privacy laws (HIPAA).Oversee the preparation and release of medical records to healthcare providers, patients, legal entities, and government agencies as required.Perform quality checks and address discrepancies or errors in records promptly and provide guidance to team members.Stay informed about and ensure adherence to health information management regulations, including HIPAA and other relevant standards.Assist with internal and external audits to maintain compliance with regulatory requirements, offering expertise and leadership to team members.Utilize health information management software to maintain and retrieve electronic health records.

What you will need:

Bachelors Degree Health Administration RequiredExperience with electronic health record systems and health information management software. AndProven experience in health information management, with leadership and team coordination experience.Certified Health Data Analyst (CHDA) Required OrRegistered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) - American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certification Required
