Health Information Technician

To ensure that a health record is maintained for every individual who is an evaluated and/or treated patient. To be responsible for overseeing day-to-day management of the health records department functions, which include, the monitoring of confidentiality and security. This person is also responsible for ensuring that the health records are in compliance with standards of documentation and format. Must demonstrate general knowledge of health records, medical terminology, scheduling techniques, and customer service skills. Will maintain health records in accordance with standards of accreditation and Mosaic Medical’s policies/procedures.

This is a remote position, only in the state of Oregon. 

Medical Records Management

Ensure quality, accuracy, accessibility, and security of patient records. Scans and Index records into patient chart. Process Solicited Results. Verify patient identity for all incoming and outgoing records. Document and record receipt of records. 

Release of Information

Complete incoming and outgoing requests for records. Responds to requests for release of medical information from providers’ offices, patients and requests for immunization records. Verifies the records release, duplicates the specific documents requested and comply with state regulations.

Administrative

Distribute and/or pick up paperwork from providers twice a day. Assists individuals calling in with questions regarding medical records.

Work Experience:  Two years of experience in a medical office setting. 

Education, certification and licensure:   High School diploma or GED. Health Information Technology training preferred.

Skills & Knowledge:  Knowledge of medical terminology and health record maintenance. Prefer someone familiar with HIPAA. Excellent organization skills, general office skills including use of fax, copier and phone system.  Demonstrates attention to detail.  Computer proficiency required and database management experience preferred.
