Health Professions Student Coordinator

Founded in 1906, McLeod Health is a locally owned and managed, not for profit organization supported by the strength of more than 900 members on its medical staff and more than 2,900 licensed nurses. McLeod Health is also composed of approximately 15,000 team members and more than 90 physician practices throughout its 18-county service area. With seven hospitals, McLeod Health operates three Health and Fitness Centers, a Sports Medicine and Outpatient Rehabilitation Center, Hospice and Home Health Services. The system currently has 988 licensed beds, including Hospice and Behavioral Health. The hospitals within McLeod Health include: McLeod Regional Medical Center, McLeod Health Dillon, McLeod Health Loris, McLeod Health Seacoast, McLeod Health Cheraw, McLeod Health Clarendon and McLeod Behavioral Health.

Collaborates with health professions programs to provide community-based education for undergraduate and graduate students. This community-based education is designed to expose students to the realities of clinical practice in the Pee Dee rural and underserved areas and to introduce them to communities as a focus for health improvements. Assist with housing resources for student use while on their community-based rotations. 

Facilitate student placements, orient students to communities, organize student projects, coordinate high fidelity interprofessional team-based simulation technology training programs for HPS students and faculty in the Pee Dee region. Student placement sites include private clinical practices, community health centers, migrant health centers, rural health clinics, hospitals, pharmacies, and health departments. Coordinate and implement regional interprofessional/interdisciplinary education activities including ITCC, ITCC+, and IPC. 

Coordinate the South Carolina AHEC Scholars program in the Pee Dee region. AHEC Scholars is pa( ofa national initiative to prepare tomorrow's health professionals to become leaders in interprofessional, transformative practice who serve those who need it the most. The program consists of didactic and experiential training opportunities with a focus on primary care and service 10 rural and underserved populations in the Pee Dee region. 

Travel to attend SC AHEC meetings and conduct site visits to clinical training sites for meetings with preceptors and students.

Work Schedule: 80 hours bi-weekly

Qualifications/Training : 

Bachelor's Degree required. At least 3 years but typically less than 5 years of total related work experience. Must possess strong organizational and time management skills, having the ability to multi-task standard work and manage multiple project responsibilities and deadlines. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required. Must have the ability to work with minimum of supervision; should have knowledge of the fundamentals of graduate healthcare education programs and healthcare systems. Proficient computer skills are required to use Microsoft Office 365, Word, Excel, Access, Constant Contact, and Citrix applications. Occasionally, the employee will need to travel overnight. 

Education/Certifications/Licenses : . South Carolina Driver's License is required.
