Position Summary

The EHS – Health & Safety intern position focuses on designing solutions to mitigate workplace and community safety hazards. An EHS intern position applies broad theoretical job knowledge typically obtained through advanced education and must be able to explain facts, policies, and practices related to the job area.

ResponsibilitiesEHS – Health & Safety Interns typically:Work on problems of limited scope and contribute to projects or processes while receiving detailed instructions from higher-level professionals.Develop and implement policies and practices to mitigate hazardous conditions within the workplace.Identify potential workplace hazards, unsafe equipment, work practices, and working conditions. Investigate accidents and collaborate with engineers, management, and health and safety regulatory authorities to identify causes of accidents and prevent their recurrence.Maintaining and analyzing records of workplace injuries, illness, and absences to identify areas of concern and provide information required by regulatory agencies.Assist in delivering training, learning, and development requirements to employees.You will also get to:Apply interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with salary and hourly teammates and achieve common goals.Work in a hands-on environment with cross-functional teamsUtilize project management skills to develop, manage, and control scope, schedule, and cost.Maintain relationships with the community, environmental groups, and other stakeholders impacted by the organization's environmental performance.We are looking for students who:Are highly motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.Have a people-centric focus and the ability to collaborate with all teammates across the organization.Exhibit strong initiative, work ethic, and levels of enthusiasm.Demonstrate technical aptitude in the major of study.Practice excellent communication and presentation skills.QualificationsTo thrive in this role, you need…To be pursuing a degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Occupational Health Sciences, Industrial Hygiene, Safety Technology, or another applicable major and actively enrolled in an accredited university the semester prior to your start date.To be sophomore-senior level standing with a GPA of at least 3.0To be available to work minimum of 36 hours weekly No other work experience is required. We will teach you everything you need to know!
