The Role
Introduction to Synergy Cells
Synergy Cells is looking for talented individuals to support our Joint Venture between General Motors and Samsung SDI. In this new high-technology facility, Synergy Cells will cultivate the latest in battery cell manufacturing technology. With an investment of over $3.5 billion, Synergy Cells will be producing battery cells for GM electric vehicles.
Selected candidates will have the opportunity to learn new skills as well as influence processes and systems that will sustain industry leading performance. The selected candidate will be required to travel both domestically and internationally.
The Health and Safety Supervisor is responsible for leading and managing a team of salaried and contract safety professionals. The Health and Safety Supervisor is responsible for analyzing and identifying strategies for the site that align with GM
What You'll Do
Manufacturing Launch and Readiness:
Support the commissioning of facilities and production equipment
Support and participate in onsite launch activities
Support the development of Task Based Risk Assessments
Safety Management System:
Support adoption and implementation of the Global Workplace Safety System
Drive the development of Synergy Cells specific safety and health standards
Deliver annual Synergy Cells facility health and safety goals and objectives to the workforce
Learning and Development:
Support Manufacturing Learning and Development in the identification and facilitation of the Training Management System and the affective launch of site-specific health and safety training.
Support delivering New Hire and Contractor Orientations
Ensure effective auditing, observations, and reporting of compliance with safety standards and procedures.
Emergency Response:
Participate in the plant’s Emergency Response Planning Process
Other:
Act as a liaison with regulatory agencies as needed
Communicate and work effectively with operations, construction, plant floor teams
Additional Job DescriptionYour Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
Bachelor’s degree in a technical (Engineering, Safety, Environmental Engineering) discipline
3+ years’ experience in general Industry and or a manufacturing environment
Demonstrated ability in negotiation and problem resolution
Demonstrated ability to influence at the leadership level
Must be willing and able to travel 10-15% of the time
Your Skills & Abilities (Preferred Qualifications)
Bachelor’s in Safety/industrial Hygiene or related discipline
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or other professional certification
Experience in Industrial Hygiene Air Sampling
Experience with Process Safety Management (PSM)
Experience with Combustible Dust
Ability to lead teams and influence change
Bilingual (Korean/English Speaking)
Experience in a start-up environment
