The primary responsibility of the Health Services Director Specialist is to fulfill the Director of Nursing responsibilities during the absence of a Director of Nursing within assigned communities. Secondary duties may include assisting the Regional Director of Health Services in quality assurance efforts when not assigned to a community.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum two (2) years of management experience in senior living or related health programs preferred. Must be computer proficient in typing and various programs, including a background in EHR management. Subject to a criminal background check and drug screening. Holds current unencumbered license in the state the employee resides in as a Registered Nurse.  Willing to obtain a nursing license in assigned states. Holds current CPR certification

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership

Acts as interim HSD overseeing the daily health services operations of the designated community professionally, ensuring the highest level of care to residents in accordance with regulatory standards and Sinceri policies and procedures. Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate others. Effective and efficient organization and time management skills. Confident, independent thinker, and strong decision-making ability. Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment. Maintains current knowledge of the senior living industry, state and local regulations, including current trends and best practices. Maintains and prompts adherence to organizational policy and procedures and guidelines. Utilizes management expertise to assist communities with resident care and nursing personnel issues.

Community Functions

Collaborates with the Management team on the advisability of accepting any prospective resident, taking into consideration the needs of the prospective resident, current community acuity, and staffing levels. Provide in-person pre-move-in assessments if deemed necessary. Ensures that residents' care needs are met by coordinating care services with other community professionals, including physicians, discharge planners, nurses, home health agency staff, case managers, and state agency personnel. Oversee the arrangement of ancillary services such as pharmacy, podiatry, lab, and x-ray as needed. Delegates nursing tasks as allowed under applicable state nursing laws and practice acts, communicating regularly with residents, their families, and their health care practitioners. Provides initial and ongoing training of staff in the area of health-related services, including but not limited to providing personal care and medication management. Communicates regularly with residents' families regarding health care needs. Provide instruction and reassurance to residents and families in maintaining health and managing medical conditions. Promote positive motivation, identify problems and/or deficiencies, develop action plans, educate staff, and implement solutions to clinical issues. Participates in State and Federal surveys and compliance investigations. Utilizes systems to minimize organization risk exposure not limited to risk reporting systems, resident risk highlights, resident evaluation systems, pharmacy systems, medication management, etc. Minimize liability to the organization by anticipating problems, evaluating the magnitude of the problem, and taking action to correct the problem and/or reduce the risk. Coordinates and assists in implementing and oversight of the organization's electronic health record (EHR) program. Oversight of Meaningful Moments program in coordination with Program Director. Assists community with ongoing behavior interventions and collaborate with Program Director, if indicated. Collaborates with Community Relations Director (CRD) and Administrator, providing support with sales and marketing plan and community strategy. Participates in the community continuous quality improvement (CQI) committee. Together with the Administrator and Business Office Manager, ensure the community provides effective orientations, ongoing training, employee development, team building, and conflict resolution. Assist Administrator and the Regional Director of Health Services in the recruitment, interview, orientation, and retention of health services staff, including potential HSD candidates. Assist community in financial performance in achieving net operating income (NOI) margins through monitoring staffing, supply cost, agency cost, etc. Monitor health services performance regarding established budgets and proactively implement appropriate changes to ensure positive financial results in collaboration with the Administrator and regional team.

Other Functions

When a Community is not assigned, the HSD Specialist may assist in quality assurance efforts with assigned site visits, implementation of systems, and/or delegation of task to health services staff per state regulations such as medication training or skills.
