Requisition No: 845390 Agency: State Courts System Working Title: HEARING OFFICER - 22012280 Pay Plan: State Courts System Position Number: 22012280 Salary: $96,557.06 Annually Posting Closing Date: 03/31/2025 Total Compensation Estimator Tool (https://compcalculator.myflorida.com/) Position Title Hearing Officer (Child Support Enforcement) Job Location Twelfth Judicial Circuit; Sarasota, Bradenton Salary Range $96,557.06 Annually Job Description The essential function of the Child Support Enforcement Hearing Officer position is to conduct hearings and make recommended orders on matters referred for hearing. The position is responsible for setting referred child support and Title IV-D cases for hearing, conducting hearings, making determinations on cases, and preparing recommended orders for the parties and referring judge’s consideration. This is a high-volume division of the court. Candidates must be very proficient using computers and Microsoft Word and able to generate recommended orders. Most hearings are held in person, although Zoom hearings are also held. Attention to detail is important and strong writing skills are required. The position works under the general supervision of the Court Administrator or her designee. Education and Training Guidelines Juris doctorate from an accredited law school. At least five years of experience in the practice of law, including one year in family law. Requires membership in good standing in the Florida Bar. Competencies All applicants are encouraged to read the un-numbered section of the Code of Judicial Conduct titled “Application of the Code of Judicial Conduct” which provides that anyone who performs judicial functions, including a hearing officer, commissioner, or a general magistrate, shall comply with Canons 1, 2A, and 3, and such other provisions of the Code that might reasonably be applicable. Applicants should also be familiar with the Opinions of the Judicial Ethics Advisory Committee. This position requires knowledge of the legal system, family court processes and procedures, and the Florida Rules of Court. This position supervises one part-time Administrative Assistant I. The position is based in Manatee County, however, regular travel to Sarasota and Desoto Counties may be required.
