JOB SUMMARY Work as a team member to provide critical heat treatment for castings per work instructions. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS + Must be able to read and interpret Product Criteria (PC) and Activity Instructions (AI) + Long periods of standing + Pushing, pulling and twisting + Understanding of computer software applications + Vision standards + Must be able to function as a member of a team and be able to work under general supervision. + Must be able to work and function in a fast-paced environment. + Basic knowledge of computers + Must be able to maintain expected quality levels. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Job responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: + Heat casting to a desired temperature to perform different operations of work, weld, grind, and other various functions to reach final Rockwell hardness requirement. + Select castings to satisfy production schedules and furnace capacity. + Verify casting and routing ticket information. + Monitor operating parameters of furnaces and report malfunctions. + Complete necessary paperwork, chart entries and traceability reports. + Operate hardness testing equipment and interpret readings. + Operate electrical furnaces. + Load and unload castings into heat treat fixtures. + Load and unload heat treat fixtures into furnace. + Perform quenching and cooling operations. + Perform routine maintenance on equipment. + Expedite castings between heat treat area and subsequent operational area. + Communication status of operation with subsequent shifts. + Hot straightening at extreme temperature. + Perform other various duties as required. + Employees are expected to work overtime as needed. JOB SPECIFICATIONS Basic Qualifications: + High School Diploma or GED equivalency. + This position requires a minimum of six (6) months of on-the-job training for satisfactory job proficiency. + WORKKEYS Tests are REQUIRED to be considered for this position. Testing will be conducted at the La Porte WorkOne office. Required Testing: Applied Math, Graphic Literacy, Workplace Documents and Workplace Observation. Candidates MUST pass with a Level 4 or higher on Applied Math, Graphic Literacy, and Workplace Documents and with a Level 2 or higher on Workplace Observation to be considered. + ​Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. + This position entails access to export-controlled items and employment offers are conditioned upon an applicant's ability to lawfully obtain access to such items. Preferred Qualifications: + Able to demonstrate 2 years of full-time continuous work experience with the same employer OR 6 months of manufacturing experience. Skills and Abilities: + Capable of doing multiple tasks. + Capable of doing accurate labor reporting. + Able of change programs in Controllers. + Organizational skills to maximize loads. + Ability to become certified. + Team Orientation. + Mechanical Aptitude (TPM’s). + Able to use calipers and gauges. Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Employee is required to execute the following: + Withstand the rigors of a 12-hour shift for 4 days in a row. + Stand for approximately 70% of the time. + Occasional bending, reaching, pushing and pulling when retrieving and moving various items. + Lifting intermittently of various items for approximately 40% of the time. Typically, assistance would be provided for weights exceeding 35 pounds. + Squatting / crouching when retrieving stored items from lower shelves and file cabinets, making equipment / product inspections, etc. + Clean work areas and maintain a clean work environment; perform 5S cleaning activities as required. Equipment Used: + Heat Treat Furnaces. + Gauges. + Caliper. + PLC-Programmable Logic Control. + Electrical lift trucks. + Setters. Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Duties are performed primarily in manufacturing areas where compliance with applicable safety rules is required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to work near moving mechanical parts and exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level is moderate. The employee will be subject extreme heat during summer months. Contacts: This position interfaces routinely with all HLC personnel. Supervision: This position supervises no other.
