Do you like to get your hands dirty? This is the job for you. A Heavy Equipment/Maintenance Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and servicing of heavy machinery and equipment. This role ensures that all equipment operates safely and efficiently to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.

Responsibilities:

Perform scheduled inspections, maintenance, and repairs on a variety of heavy equipment. Conduct regular oil changes, filter replacements, tire rotations, lubrication, and fluid level checks to ensure machines remain operational and within safety standards. Use diagnostic tools and methods to identify mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and fuel system issues in heavy equipment. Analyze problems in engines, transmissions, undercarriages, and electrical systems, providing accurate diagnoses and timely repairs. Repair or replace worn or damaged parts, including engines, hydraulic pumps, belts, valves, and other critical components. Respond quickly to urgent breakdowns or failures of equipment on-site to minimize downtime. Maintain accurate and detailed records of all maintenance and repair work, including hours worked, parts used, and equipment status. Follow all safety protocols and industry regulations during maintenance and repair activities. Work closely with equipment operators, project managers, and other maintenance staff to coordinate repair schedules and maintenance needs. Communicate effectively to report equipment status, issues, and recommended actions to management. Conduct post-repair testing to ensure that equipment operates properly and meets manufacturer specifications. Manage tools and equipment used in maintenance work, ensuring they are well-maintained and in working order. Maintain inventory of parts and supplies, ordering necessary components to complete repairs and prevent delays.

 

Requirements:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Vocational training or an Associate’s degree in Heavy Equipment Maintenance, Diesel Mechanics, or a related field is preferred. Experience: At least 2-5 years of experience in heavy equipment maintenance or related mechanical fields. Proficient in using diagnostic tools, hand tools, and welding equipment. Knowledge of hydraulic systems, diesel engines, electrical components, and mechanical repair. Strong ability to diagnose issues, develop solutions, and resolve complex mechanical problems quickly. Ability to work in physically demanding environments, including lifting heavy parts and working in difficult conditions. Ability to identify issues and perform thorough inspections to prevent future breakdowns.
