**Job Title: Heavy Equipment Mechanic**
**Job Description**
Consult with the Service Supervisor to plan an effective work and travel schedule, prioritizing customer needs and considering the location of the machine and parts availability. Diagnose malfunctions, repair or replace worn and defective parts, install new assemblies, and adjust devices and controls to correct malfunctions and keep machines in operating condition. Provide tools and parts, and arrange facilities to perform repair work, usually on customer premises. Inspect, operate, and test machines upon initial delivery, at specified inspection intervals, and upon completion of any repair work to ensure proper functioning of equipment and its components. Report to the Service Supervisor with details such as the customer's name, machine description, nature of malfunction, time involved in working, driving, and waiting, mileage, etc., for accurate billing and account charging. Strive to increase technical skills through attendance at company-sponsored vocational schools, annual training meetings, and reading technical literature. Maintain a neat personal appearance and keep the service truck clean, polished, and orderly to promote and enhance the company image. Experienced or advanced servicemen are expected to serve as troubleshooters for recurring or unusual problems, conferring with Engineering, Manufacturing, and other service personnel to resolve issues.

+ Serve as troubleshooters for recurring or unusual problems, conferring with relevant personnel.
**Essential Skills**
+ Experience with Diesel, Hydraulics, Heavy Equipment, Mechanical Repair.
+ Capability to lift 50 pounds.
+ Valid driver's license and good driving record.
+ Basic computer skills.
+ Ability to read and interpret blueprints and other technical material.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ Experience with heavy equipment and hydraulics.
+ Capability of stooping, bending, and climbing.
+ Willingness to stay overnight at out-of-town locations occasionally.

**Work Environment**
Working on-site from Monday to Friday with some weekends, 7am-4pm. Work is performed in all weather conditions and involves some travel.
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chesapeake, Virginia.

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $45.00
