Primary responsibility of the Heavy Equipment Mechanic is to analyze malfunctions and repairs, rebuild and maintain power equipment, such as cranes, front end loaders, scrapers, motor graders, conveyors, bulldozers, pumps, compressors and pneumatic tools. The Heavy Equipment Mechanic must also clean, maintain and secure all equipment as directed by regulations, policies and safety procedures.
Salary
$27.10/ hr. plus $9.75 fringe benefits used towards insurance and 401k!

Key Responsibilities Perform preventative maintenance on Screw Air Compressors, diagnose and repair defects Perform maintenance and repair activities on various pieces of heavy equipment including but not limited to heavy-duty trucks, material spreader, excavators, high pressure pumps, bulldozers, graders, cranes, snow plows, crawler tractors and trailers, backhoes, trailers, street sweepers, aerial towers and man lifts Diagnose, service and repair various systems that are found on pieces of heavy equipment such as mechanical and computer electronic controls, air brake systems, transmissions, computer controlled automatic and manual transmissions, propane powered equipment, and pneumatic systems Perform routine maintenance checks and adjustments on such things as fluid levels, hoses, belts, brakes, tires, and clutches; changes filters and oil, and lubricates vehicles and motor driven equipment Tune gas and diesel engines, services valves, fuel filters and turbo chargers, and pressure checks fuel filters, adjust injector heights, fuel racks, governors, etc. Maintain service logs and records of maintenance Prepares work orders and cost materials estimates Perform other related duties as assigned Essential Skills Knowledge of the standard practices, materials, tools, and equipment used in the repair and maintenance of motor vehicles and engines Knowledge of safety issues in the use of tools, equipment, and supplies used in repair of motorized vehicles and equipment Knowledge of operation, maintenance, and storage of front-end loaders, dozers, graders, compactors, and other pieces of heavy equipment Knowledge of road construction and maintenance techniques Knowledge of body and frame construction Skill in the use of gas and electric welding equipment Skill in the use of mechanized tools, jacks, and hoists Skill in the use of a variety of diagnostic testing and tuning equipment Ability to diagnose mechanical, electrical and hydraulic malfunctions Ability to read manuals and schematics Ability to rebuild engines and major driveline components Adaptable and flexible in work situations PRACTICES WORKPLACE SAFETY in the use of tools, equipment, and supplies Including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
