**Job Title: Heavy Equipment Mechanic**
**Job Description**
Diagnose, service, and repair various systems found on heavy equipment such as mechanical and computer electronic controls, transmissions, computer-controlled automatic transmissions, and pneumatic systems. Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and perform necessary repairs. Overhaul engines, replace engines, and rebuild components. Maintain tools, equipment, and work area in clean and good working condition. Provide training to lower-level workers in mechanical repair techniques as needed.
**Responsibilities**
+ Diagnose, service, and repair mechanical and computer electronic controls, transmissions, and pneumatic systems on heavy equipment.
+ Troubleshoot and repair malfunctions in equipment.
+ Repair and service track drive sprockets, rails, idler wheels, hand bars, track adjusters, hydraulic systems, reversers, final drives, brake bands, steering clutches, and hydrostatic transmissions.
+ Service, diagnose, repair, and maintain speed tandem drive axles with air or electric shift, hydrostatic driven, heavy-duty multi-axle suspensions.
+ Tune diesel engines, service valves, fuel filters, turbo chargers, and pressure checks fuel filters; adjust injector heights, fuel racks, governors, etc.
+ Diagnose problems, disassemble units, repair or replace parts, and reassemble units in cooling, drive, brake, electrical, steering, heating, air conditioning, hydraulic and air systems.
+ Overhaul and replace engines, rebuild components.
+ Keep tools, equipment, and work area clean, organized, and in good working condition.
+ Assist in training lower-level workers in mechanical repair techniques.
+ Perform related work as assigned.
**Essential Skills**
+ Proven experience as a mechanic working on heavy machinery such as excavators, loaders, paving machines, backhoes, bulldozers, dump trucks, trenchers, compactors, graders, telehandlers, backhoe loaders, tower cranes, feller bunchers, dragline excavators, wheel tractor scrapers, pile driving machines, and concrete pumps.
+ Experience with diesel engines, troubleshooting, hydraulics, forklift repair, pneumatics, mechanical, diesel, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
+ Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing heavy equipment.
+ Ability to maintain and repair construction equipment and heavy equipment.
+ Experience as a shop mechanic and mobile mechanic.
+ Skilled in working independently to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ Experience with Caterpillar machinery.
+ Maintenance technician experience.
+ Experience with hydraulic systems and construction equipment.

**Work Environment**
Work in a non-temperature controlled environment. Initially, training will be conducted in the shop for a few weeks before transitioning to fieldwork. Must be skilled in troubleshooting and repairing equipment independently.
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Permanent position based out of San Antonio, Texas.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $62400.00 - $62400.00/yr.
