Heavy Equipment Operator
Overview ***This position is physically located in the Philippines in support of LOGCAP*** Under the supervision of the Trades Shop Supervisor performs a variety of assignments, as a heavy equipment operator both technical and clerical, to receive, inspect, store and ship material, but not limited to receipt, control, preparation, material distribution, records, and report. Receives general direction or new assignment aspects and instructions as to how to perform required tasks and results expected. Responsibilities This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company. Operate (MHE) Material Handling (Heavy) Equipment to support completion of Projects. Perform Daily operational checks, Pre, and Post inspections. Perform manual labor with hand tools when required Assist with the other tasks when not operating MHE heavy equipment or training. Maintain MHE service documentation; ensure equipment is being maintenance properly and inspected regularly. Move/transport materials and supplies to designated work locations. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Foreign National A local driver’s license (Philippines) is required to operate heavy machinery. Host Country certifications for Heavy Equipment and motorized pallet jack (walkie-rider) if required. Maintain all operator required licenses and certifications. Education/Experience: High school diploma is required or equivalent. Work requires two (3) years of shipping, receiving, stocking and warehousing experience or an equivalent combination of relevant education. Material Handling Heavy Equipment, motorized pallet jacks experience and training from a recognized institution. Experience: 3-5 years’ experience in (MHE) Material Handling Heavy Equipment operations up to 30K or higher with additional experience with motorized pallet jack (walkie-rider). Skills: Capable of effectively communicating technical information in English, both written and verbal Customer service training Material Handling Equipment (Forklift Heavy Equipment up to 30K or higher) and motorized pallet jack (walkie-rider) Must be able to learn to operate new MHE heavy equipment and motorized pallet jack (walkie-rider). Must be able to operate equipment in a safe manner. Must know proper ground guiding procedures and hand signals. Must be able to read, comprehend and communicate load charts/weight capabilities Working Environment: Work is generally conducted in an out-door environment. Duties will involve potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions. Work will on occasion involve stooping, prolonged standing, and prolonged sitting. Working in a military environment brings the potential for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents. Employee use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required in certain areas, but not on a daily basis. Such PPE includes but is not limited to head, foot, hand, torso, vision and hearing protective devices. Must comply with OSHA, EPA, Fire Regulations, and published Company work rules. Work may require heavy lifting up, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolong sitting and working with or in areas where potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents. Must be physically capable of lifting 75 pounds a vertical distance of four feet and carrying this weight a horizontal distance of 25 feet. Physical Requirement: Heavy work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
