Heavy Equipment Operator

Hudson Garbage Service, a Waste Connections company, is currently looking for a Heavy Equipment Operator to work at Columbia County Transfer Station in St. Helens Oregon.

Schedule is 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM

Shift is Monday, Tuesday, Friday & Saturday

Starting wage is $24.78/hour

DESCRIPTION:

In this position SAFETY is our #1 Priority, you will wear many hats, but main duties will include flagging traffic, keeping the site clean, operating heavy equipment, and helping trucks get in and out of the transfer station in a safe and timely manner. This is a full-time, long-term position with a great company. If you don’t mind getting your hands dirty and are a self-motivated, hard-working individual with good communication skills we want to talk to you.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Efficiently operate a Loader, Excavator, Skid Steer, Yard Goat and Forklift.Greeting, directing, discussing issues with, and educating customers of onsite rules and restrictions in a polite and courteous manner.Directing and tracking incoming traffic and monitoring waste material flow.Following all appropriate safety guidelines and precautions, wearing required safety gear, and always maintaining a neat and professional appearance.Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies.Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:

Extensive physical activity. Requires strenuous physical work on a daily basis; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects over 50 pounds.Work environment involves some exposure to mechanical and environmental hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.

 MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to provide good customer service to the public.The ability to stand outside through a 10-hour shift. Ability to operate multiple types of heavy equipment.Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.High school diploma or equivalent required.Minimum 1 year of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.Basic knowledge of computer skills.Position requires eligible motor vehicle report, eligible criminal background check and clean drug panel screening.
