Description:

ATCO Frontec is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team in Eureka, Nunavut. The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operating heavy equipment used in the construction and maintenance of roads, buildings and other structures as well as material handling work. 

The position will be located on site at Eureka, NU and will work on a rotation of 8 weeks on and 8 weeks off. The wage is $31.50/hour.

Responsibilities:

Operate heavy equipment such as dump trucks, tractor, backhoes, bulldozers, excavators, loaders, and graders to excavate, move, load and grade earth, rock, and gravel Operate snow blowers and plough trucks to remove snow from roads and parking lots Operate heavy equipment to spread or compact road surface materials during road construction and maintenance Operate heavy equipment to move, load and unload cargo  Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment and clean, lubricate and refill equipment Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Valid Trade Certificate for Heavy Equipment Operator is required Valid Class 3 Driver's License and Clean Driver's Abstract is required A minimum 3-5 years of experience operating heavy equipment is required Ability to operate with minimum supervision Excellent communication and customer service skills Comfortable working in remote and extreme weather conditions Availability to work rotational shifts, including extended hours if necessary
