About the Role

Join our team at ATCO Gas as a Heavy Duty Mechanic (Mechanical Service Technician), where you'll be essential in ensuring the safety and reliability of our fleet. Under the expert guidance of the Supervisor, Fleet and the Team Lead, Mechanical, you'll undertake critical maintenance and repairs across a diverse range of vehicles and heavy equipment. This role is perfect for those who excel in a dynamic, safety-focused environment and are passionate about problem-solving and mechanical innovation.

What You’ll Do:

Diagnose, repair, and maintain various vehicles and equipment, enhancing their safety and reliability. Conduct thorough inspections and preventative maintenance checks, prioritizing safe operation. Perform annual safety inspections as part of the Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program, where applicable. Skillfully maintain and service a variety of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) assets utilized in our fleet, adhering to strict government, company and industry standards. Manage and maintain detailed records of all repairs and work orders for compliance and efficiency. Coordinate parts acquisition directly with suppliers or through company stores. Engage in continuous learning to stay informed of industry standards and new technologies.

What We’re looking for:

Journeyperson Certificate in Heavy Equipment Technician from a recognized Apprenticeship Program for on-road and off-road Class 3 driver’s license with air brake endorsement preferred, with the ability to obtain an in-house Operator's Certificate. Strong communication skills, technical aptitude, and a commitment to professional development. Commercial Vehicle Inspection Certificate, or the ability to obtain one as required. Knowledge of alternate fuel systems is an asset. Proficient computer skills and a working knowledge using diagnostic equipment Flexibility to work in various weather conditions and participate in shift schedules and emergency callouts. This is a Safety-Sensitive position, subject to pre-employment Alcohol & Drug tests as per company policy.
