Job DescriptionWe are seeking a highly skilled Heavy Structures Technician - Rapid Response Mechanic to join the Final Product Verification (FPV) Team. This role is crucial in ensuring aircraft structural integrity by performing major assembly, rework, and repair tasks beyond standard in-process work. The ideal candidate will have experience with structural assembly, troubleshooting, and engineering-based modifications.
Perform assembly and major structural modifications, including removal and replacement of skins, bulkheads, and MRB repairs beyond normal shop environment capabilities.Convert detailed skin/structure into engineering configuration using match drilling processes.Troubleshoot and resolve major structural discrepancies per engineering specifications.Assemble, install, seal, rig, and inspect precision structural and system components according to engineering documents, quality standards, and established procedures.Conduct functional testing and corrections to ensure proper fit, form, and function.Use precision measuring instruments and shop mathematics for accurate assembly.Ensure compliance with work instructions, process specifications, and engineering standards while identifying and reporting any discrepancies.Maintain tooling, equipment certification, and basic preventative maintenance as part of daily duties.Support continuous product flow by assisting and training other mechanics and becoming SIA (Self-Inspection Authorization) qualified.Qualifications10+ years of experience (A&P license is not a requirement)Heavy structure and skin change work required.Safety Steel-toed shoes/bootsPass blue print & plate testingExperience in aircraft structural assembly, troubleshooting, and repair within an aerospace manufacturing environment.Strong understanding of engineering drawings, blueprints, and process specifications.Proficiency in using precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.).Ability to perform match drilling, skin replacements, and major MRB repairs.Familiarity with quality control requirements and functional testing procedures.Ability to train and assist team members while maintaining production schedules.Additional InformationHere’s a heads-up of the upcoming steps:
