About the Role

As a Heavy Duty Driver, you are responsible for the safe, competent and efficient operation of ATCO fleet vehicles and equipment while maintaining a strong commitment to personal and job safety.

What You’ll Do:

Operate, in a safe, competent and efficient manner, company fleet vehicles, including truck/tractor trailer combinations. Responsible for the safe loading, unloading, and securing of material and equipment. Operate, in a safe, competent and efficient manner, various types of equipment for loading and unloading purposes. Apply and understand our related municipal and provincial, traffic bylaws, rules, and regulations. (i.e. load weight limits, load dimensions, truck routes for both rural and urban roadways.) Understand and arrange for overweight and/or over dimensional load permits as required. Ensure the regular care and maintenance of company vehicles assigned to them is performed and our company and regulatory records pertaining to a heavy truck drivers’ responsibility are kept current. Carry out yard and shop housekeeping duties as assigned. Maintain accurate Driver's Daily Logbooks as required to comply with government legislation. Perform other related duties as required in a safe efficient manner.

Operational Commitments

Available to travel throughout the province in all terrain and weather conditions. Required to meet standby requirements and be willing to take standby as required. Must be able to, as required, work and stay away from home base. This is a Safety-Sensitive position, subject to pre-employment Alcohol & Drug testing.

What You Bring:

High School Diploma or GED.  Valid Class 1 driver’s license with air brake endorsement required. Three to five years of directly related experience and demonstrated competencies required to operate tractor trailer and perform work related to heavy equipment. Understanding of Transportation of Dangerous Goods regulations. Willingness to successfully obtain all appropriate company required certificates. Previous or current experience in Transportation of Dangerous Goods. Journeyperson Crane Operator Certificate would be an asset
