Overview **This position will be physically located in Iraq in support of LOGCAP** Under the supervision of the Waste Management Supervisor/Transportation Specialist Lead, the Heavy Truck Driver is required to operate Wastewater SEVs (Service Equipment Vehicles) Chemical Latrine & Hand Wash Station SEVs (Service Equipment Vehicles) Trash Rear Loader SEVs, Dump Trucks and Bongo Trucks or other heavy equipment as required to support deliveries or collection of Municipal Waste, Bulk Refuse and/or Recyclables Waste to all Waste Management Facilities on the LOGCAP V contract. Responsibilities This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company. Load and unload trucks, or help others with loading and unloading, operating any special loading-related equipment on vehicles and using other equipment as necessary. Maintain logs of working hours and of vehicle service and repair status, following applicable local, state and federal regulations Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew as needed; check that vehicle position is correct and any special loading equipment is properly positioned Obtain volume data when uploading and downloading are completed during and after services when required. Coordinate and Respond to all Waste Management Leadership regarding all assignment details. Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles. (Immediately to Waste Management Leadership) Secure cargo for transport, using ropes, blocks, chain, binders, and/or covers. Follow all policies and procedures related to the specific task/mission. Always assist Helper when task is in operation and completed. (Including Ground Guiding when deem to do so). Check vehicles before driving them to ensure that it’s clean, mechanical safe, operational, and emergency equipment is in good working order. Check all uploaded & downloaded documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate. Check conditions of SEV (Service Equipment Vehicles) and Attach Equipment before and after contents have been uploaded & unloaded to ensure that there has been no damage. Climb ladders to inspect loads after loading is complete, in order to ensure that load is secure. Collect delivery instructions from appropriate sources, verifying instructions and routes. Always Pre-Trip, Mid-Trip and Post-Trip assigned SEV, NTV and Equipment before, during and after route has been completed. Drive trucks with capacities greater than 3 tons, including Port-A-John SEVs and Hand Wash Station SEVs and Bongo Trucks to collect and deliver Municipal Waste or other materials. Follow appropriate safety procedures when transporting Waste. Inspect all SEV Equipment, Chemical Latrine, Hand Wash Station Equipment during route, in order to determine quantities and conditions. Place empty carts and pallets in trailers so they will be available to facilitate placement and movement of goods. Read and interpret maps in order to determine vehicle routes. Remove any debris from around Trash Dumpsters, Chemical Latrines and Hand Wash Stations before & after service has been completed. Qualifications Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Education/Certifications: One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required. Licenses/Certifications: CDL or equivalent required Experience: 3 Years’ Experience in driving heavy equipment Skills: Leadership and management skills, including a professional demeanor, are required. Strong interpersonal skills are required. Ability to exercise discretion and good judgment is required. Ability to prioritize responsibilities in order to handle a demanding workload is required. Attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy is required. Advanced ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in written form, is required. High-level organizational and planning skills, so that workflow is managed efficiently and accurately is required Basic proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook applications is required. OCN Qualifications/Experience Requirements: High school degree or equivalent required Five years truck driving experience required Must be able to read/write and speak English. Working Conditions: Must be capable of working in an extreme weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, dry, duty, desert environment with average temperatures of 30 degrees in the winter and 130 degrees in the summer months). Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well. Physical Requirements: Heavy work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.
