Summary This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Operates AH-64 D/E rotary wing aircraft and associated flight simulator(s) as an instructor pilot located in Fort Novosel, Alabama. Responsibilities Review and evaluation of work is based on visits to ground classes, pre-flight and post-flight debriefs, observation of flight techniques, student end of course critiques, and reports from checks and standardization flights. Conducts flight training while evaluating graduate and undergraduate aviators on pre-flight through post-flight tasks and maneuvers. Attends daily IP briefing when performing IP duties and conducts daily student briefs when directed by the commander or supervisor. Instructs and evaluates academic topics in accordance with TC 3-04.11 or current, equivalent publication(s), the aircrew catalogue of academic topics (ACAT), current Army and Aviation doctrine, and other special topics selected by the command. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service that includes minimum eligibility requirements for positions in this occupation based on possession of the appropriate Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) pilot certificates and/or appropriate military ratings, meeting the applicable flight hours requirements, and possession of the knowledge and skills required for the position which includes experience in instructing rated and non-rated pilots in maintenance test flight procedures in the AH-64D/E helicopter; instructing and evaluating pilots in basic/advanced test flight task and maneuvers, aircraft systems and limitations, conducting classroom instruction concerning the AH-64D/E aircraft systems and operating procedures; and monitoring standardization requirements, recommend changes in lesson plans, program of instruction, training methods and techniques. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Licensure/Certification: This position requires you possess the appropriate Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Pilot Certificates, FAA Flight Instructor Certificate and/or appropriate military rating. MINIMUM FLIGHT HOURS REQUIREMENT: Total Flight Hours- 1500 Pilot in Command - 250 Night Flying - 75 Flying Time in the Last 12 Months - 100 (may be waived) Instructor Hours - 500Instrument Hours - 75 Actual Weather- 10 FLIGHT HOURS MUST BE DOCUMENTED ON THE RESUME IN THE ABOVE FORMAT.
