Helpdesk Technician (Hybrid)

Job Description:

Summary:

The person in this position is part of Barr’s information systems team and reports to the helpdesk manager, providing support for internal computer users in Barr’s offices across the U.S. and Canada. Responsibilities include configuring hardware; troubleshooting hardware and software issues; and installing and upgrading user computers.

Minimum Qualifications:

Post-high school training in computer support, networking, or a related field

3 or more years of experience providing technical support directly to end users

Hands-on experience with administration and troubleshooting for Windows 10/11 and Microsoft Office 365

Experience with troubleshooting, installing, and configuring Windows applications in a networked environment

Familiarity with computer hardware and internal components

Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills

Attention to detail, accuracy, and timeliness of results

Strong technical and problem-solving skills

Superior task management skills, including scheduling, prioritizing, and following up

Exceptional customer service orientation including aptitude for assisting users with a range of computer abilities

Ability to occasionally work outside normal business hours

Capable of safely lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds

Ability to occasionally travel to other offices in the U.S. and Canada

Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship from Barr now, or in the future

Possession of a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record

Preferred Qualifications: 

Experience working with VMware (Omnissa) Horizon VDI

Experience with Active Directory

Experience working with Exchange administration

Related degree or certification in relevant field

A hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office. This position can be based out of Barr's Duluth or Hibbing, Minnesota, offices.  

Compensation:

The anticipated base hourly range for this position is $26–$32/hour. This position is classified as non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Compensation will vary based on relevant experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors. Employees in this position may also be eligible for a discretionary cash bonus based on team and individual performance. Barr has a “no retained earnings” model and distributes all its profit to our employees through our bonus plan and ESOP.
