We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Helper to join our team. In this role, you will assist in the safe and efficient collection of solid waste and recyclables from customer premises and curbside locations. *THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN INVERNESS*

Key Responsibilities:

Assist in the collection of solid waste and recyclables from customer premises or curbside locations.Load and unload waste materials into the vehicle.Sort recyclables and ensure they are properly deposited into the appropriate sections of the truck.Help guide the driver in safe operation, particularly when backing up or maneuvering in tight spaces.Operate equipment on the vehicle to compact waste.Ensure the vehicle has the necessary equipment before departure (e.g., broom, shovel, etc.).Report customer-related issues promptly to the driver.Identify and tag prohibited waste, removing it from carts when necessary.Follow all safety protocols and equipment checks while performing duties.Maintain a professional appearance when interacting with customers or the public.Assist with maintaining cleanliness of both the interior and exterior of the vehicle.Participate in safety meetings and help maintain route quality standards.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required.1–3 months of related experience is a plus, but on-the-job training will be provided.Valid driver’s license is preferred, but not required.Ability to lift up to 65 lbs regularly and push/move up to 100 lbs with assistance.Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions and loud environments.Ability to communicate effectively and follow instructions with limited supervision.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Strong communication skills and the ability to follow directions.Ability to work efficiently and safely with a focus on quality and teamwork.Knowledge of safety and equipment procedures is a plus.

Physical and Mental Demands:

Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods in outdoor environments.Must be able to kneel, crawl, climb, and balance.Visual requirements: close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception.

Working Conditions:

Exposed to varying weather conditions, loud noise, and moving mechanical parts.Work will be performed in outdoor settings, in vehicle traffic, and occasionally in high places.
