For more information, visit amwater.com and join American Water on LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. _ *Primary Role*_ Assists the maintenance person and functions as Relief Plant Operator. _ *Key Accountabilities*_ * Operates water treatment facilities, pumping facilities and other related facilities. * Assists the maintenance person or performs the following duties: maintenance on motors, pumps, switch gear, chemical feed equipment, mixing and sedimentation basin equipment, filters, intakes, wells, valves, control/monitoring equipment, building, grounds, and other related equipment. * Operates all pumps, motors, screens, switch gear, chemical feed equipment, settling tanks, control systems, laboratory equipment, and valves. * Makes water treatment control tests and calculations necessary to control the water treatment and pumpage of the facility. * Collects water samples in the distribution system per regulatory requirement * Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor. _ *Knowledge/Skills*_ * Must have a working knowledge of all tools used in maintaining all related plant equipment. * Since this classification also has operating duties, must have a working knowledge of chemistry, mathematics, and hydraulics. _ *Experience/Education*_ * GED/High School Diploma * Prior maintenance experience preferred _ *Travel Requirements*_ * Local travel _ *Certifications & Licenses*_ * Valid driver license * DEP Class A license preferred.
