The Team Lead Hematology Technologist is responsible for daily operations in the Hematology department. They also report and assist the Laboratory Medical Director and Director of Laboratory Services when required. Duties will be divided into 80% technical and 20% administrative.
I. Major Responsibilities:
Demonstrates a commitment to maintain effective communications with all health team members and with all Hospital customers to facilitate and promote effective working relationships, customer service and patient satisfaction. Work practices that comply with established Hospital policy Demonstrates a commitment to promote a safe environment for patients, visitors, and peers. maintain competencies and participate in those activities, which contribute to the on-going development of self and others. Responsible for the proper performance of a variety of clinical laboratory procedures, consistent with professional standards and departmental protocol, policies, and procedures. Under the direction of the Laboratory Medical Director and Director of Laboratory Services, ensures operational excellence within the Hematology department. The Team Lead-Hematology provides quality support and service in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, and professional standards. Assists in achieving effective fiscal management of the Hematology departments’ operations to ensure proper utilization of financial and other resources. Demonstrates professional leadership and involvement within the Hospital, the System and in the community served to promote support of the Hospital. Performs Hematology Supervisory duties operations in the Hematology, Coagulation and Urinalysis Technical Responsibilities. Seeks appropriate counsel, as needed, from Human Resources and/or Director of Laboratory Services, responsible for effective human resource management to achieve consistent and fair treatment of all staff, high productivity, and positive employee relations.

II. Position Qualifications:
License/Certification/Education:

BS in Medical Technology or related science field. Must have MT (ASCP) certification, or equivalent.

Five to ten years of recent experience working in Hematology, Coagulation and Urinalysis areas of the Laboratory. Demonstrated progressive supervisory experience.

Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
Department-specific competencies and their measurements will be developed and maintained in the individual departments. The competencies will be maintained and attached to the departmental job description. Responsible managers will review competencies with position incumbents.
III. Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions:
(Office jobs only) Work is considered sedentary. Position requires work indoors in a normal office environment.
