Job Description: Specimen Management Business Unit-JG5+
Position Summary
The HEOR Associate Director for the Specimen Management business is accountable for ensuring execution of HEOR projects for priority pipeline programs, execution of enterprise HEOR programs and ensuring functional excellence through best-practice deliverables and compliance leadership. In addition, the HEOR Senior Manager will work alongside the HEOR functional lead and HEOR leadership team to develop and execute the HEOR strategy for priority products in development at BD while informing the broader scientific strategy with Medical Affairs.
The HEOR BU resource is responsible for ensuring that assigned products have HEOR informed strategies; regional healthcare decisionmaker requirements are appropriately represented in evidence generation plans; and global tools meet local requirements. The HEOR BU resource may be required to execute HEOR tactics independently, with the help of in-BU staff or through central and external HEOR partners.
Job Responsibilities
Implement global HEOR strategic and evidence-based plans that can be utilized by region and country-level staff to achieve market access and ultimately greater product adoption.
Strategic plan activities may include market shaping, evidence generation plans, global market access, new product development.
Evidence-based plan activities may include executing and developing retrospective database analyses, chart reviews, real world evidence, clinical outcome assessments, literature reviews and HEOR tools such as health economic models, budget impact models, value dossiers.
Support greater product adoption by championing and monitoring implementation, utilization and tracking of value communication tools.
Support HEOR Business Unit lead in ensuring that HEOR strategy is incorporated into broader commercial strategy (strategic planning, market shaping, new product development, etc.) budget and planning.
Gather clinical and economic stakeholder input and conduct necessary HEOR analyses to inform portfolio decisions and guide product strategy -- May include cross-functional collaboration with R&D, Medical Affairs, Market Access, Regulatory Affairs and Marketing
Interact with external thought-leaders and government/payer groups to conduct research and gather insights to inform value creation and communication.
Provide product value and evidence through collaborations with reimbursement, medical/scientific affairs, and marketing, activities may include:
Reimbursement: reimbursement submissions, payment issues, policy statements, HTA submissions
Medical/Scientific Affairs: clinical study development support and execution
R&D: new product development value creation
Marketing: market assessment, value story development
Help serve as the hub for HEOR insights from countries and regions to ensure well-rounded guidance of new product development and launch success.
Manage external vendors where needed, e.g. RFP creation, project management, procurement processes, etc.
Provide guidance to lower-level employees and may have direct reports/administrative responsibilities.
Qualifications and Background
Candidate demonstrates mastery of technical skills needed for HEOR research, while being accountable for operational goals by demonstrating capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop, coach team members and cross functional associates, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and execute tactical plans based on strategic priorities
Master’s degree (PhD or PharmD, or MD/DO) in related field with 5+ years of experience conducting HEOR research (Related fields include Health Services Research, Health Economics / Economics, Psychometrics, Health Policy, Outcomes Research, Epidemiology, Public Health, and Pharmacy Administration)
Having laboratory training or experience preferred
Has substantial technical knowledge and extensive experience of planning and delivering HEOR programs, particularly launch deliverables, economic modelling and RWD studies
Demonstrated success in development and execution of product level HEOR strategies preferred
Medical device or diagnostics experience preferred
