Today it is the most comprehensive HI roadmap available, guiding the evolution of microelectronics. It forms the underpinning basis for multiple HI road-mapping and research efforts including strategic technology development and science research initiatives (5, 10 & 15 years into the future), technology innovation challenges, and resolving science & technology roadblocks, following a comprehensive approach analogous to the ITRS in the past. The HIR currently has 24 chapters and targets an annual update in February of each calendar year. Each chapter is written by a Technical Working Group (TWG) consisting of volunteers from academia, research institutes and industry. Each chapter is edited for format consistency by a Technical Editor and release and dissemination are managed by the Executive Director of Electronics Packaging Society on behalf of HIR. The governance, oversight and cross-chapter consistency is provided by the HIR International Roadmap Committee (IRC) and overall guidance is provided by the Global Advisory Council as documented in the EPS website.
