Program Summary
KBR (Kord Technologies, LLC) is seeking an experienced Lead Engineer to support the Firefly High-Energy Laser (HEL) Program’s mission of developing cutting-edge Counter-UAS capabilities for the Warfighter. Successful candidates will have extensive background and direct experience with complex HEL systems, modeling and simulation, and test.

Job Summary
The High Energy Laser System Lead Engineer will play a critical role in the development and deployment of advanced laser systems. This position involves leading multidisciplinary teams, managing the system design and integration process, and ensuring the successful delivery of high-performance laser solutions. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in laser physics, optical engineering, and systems integration, with a proven track record in project leadership within the defense industry.
Roles and Responsibilities
· Lead the design, development, and integration of high energy laser systems.
· Manage multidisciplinary engineering teams, including optical, mechanical, electrical, and software engineers.
· Develop and maintain technical documentation, including system requirements, design specifications, and test plans.
· Interface with clients and stakeholders to provide technical guidance and updates on project status.
· Identify and mitigate technical risks throughout the project lifecycle.
· Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends related to high energy lasers.
· Support business development efforts by contributing to proposals and providing technical expertise.
Basic Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
· Minimum of 10 years of experience in the design and development of laser systems.
· Extensive knowledge of laser physics, optical systems, and systems engineering principles.
· Proven experience leading engineering teams and managing complex projects.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
· Master’s or Ph.D. in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline.
· Experience in defense-related laser applications.
· Familiarity with military standards and specifications.
· Proficiency in optical design software and simulation tools.
· Experience with thermal management and power systems for high energy lasers.
· Active security clearance.
