If so, Aqua Indiana has the role you’re looking for as an Apprentice. This role is under the direction of the operations manager and will be an excellent opportunity to learn and grow. You’ll perform a variety of activities to support the operation of wastewater treatment facilities and the wastewater collection system. Shadow our leaders and facility operators to gain the skills you need to enter an exciting career in wastewater!

Opportunities are available in the following areas: Fort Wayne, Indianapolis, and Valparaiso.

Responsibilities and Duties:
•    Learns the treatment processes and equipment in water/wastewater treatment facilities.
•    Discovers how to perform daily plant duties including site housekeeping, measuring chemical usage, and performing maintenance on wastewater treatment equipment.
•    Assist in manhole inspections, field inspections, pulling pumps, camera inspections, and locating lines.
•    Learn to complete work orders, complete lab analysis, and conduct sample collection.
•    Supports other departments, including customer service, as needed.
•    Perform other duties or special projects as requested related to the area of responsibility.
•    Rate $16 per hour | 20 hours per week | 20 weeks

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
•    Excellent written and verbal communications skills; communicate effectively (clearly, concisely and professionally) with internal staff and external customers
•    Strong customer service skills.
•    Be able to readily read, understand and accurately follow operating instructions both written and verbal.
•    Familiarity with computers/tablets and work systems such as Microsoft office suite.
•    Ability to work well under pressure.
•    Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment

Education or Registration Qualifications:
•    Must be a high school senior. 
•    Must be capable of lifting 50 lbs. Must be able to walk long distances.
•    Must be proficient at using computer/tablet Window based applications.
•    Must reside within 45-60 minutes of Fort Wayne, Indianapolis, or Valparaiso, IN.
