School Summary 

Georgia Connections Academy is a tuition-free, full-time virtual school for students in grades K-12 throughout Georgia. The school is authorized by the Georgia Charter Schools Commission and governed by an independent Board of Directors, with a mission to maximize academic achievement for students who are seeking other academic options. The school is operated by Georgia Connections Academy, a nonprofit corporation, through a contract with Connections Academy of Georgia, LLC, to provide its educational program and other services. Connections Academy, a division of Connections Education, is accredited by Cognia, and GACA is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges & Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement. 

Position Summary 

High School Program Coordinator - Coordinator of Signature Programs 

Location: Duluth, GA 

Employment: 12-Month, Full-Time 

The High School Program Coordinator - Coordinator of Signature Programs is a dynamic and visionary school-level leader who will serve as a key member of the High School Leadership Team. Working closely with the High School Assistant Principal, this role is responsible for developing, managing, and growing innovative signature programs, events, and student opportunities that drive success, engagement, and academic achievement. 

The ideal candidate will possess a forward-thinking vision for expanding current initiatives and identifying new strategies to enhance student experiences, promote college and career readiness, and create meaningful partnerships. This leader will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation that meets the evolving needs of students and the school community. All GACA staff must be able to participate in monthly in-person activities, including but not limited to: 

School and department meetings,  Student engagement opportunities,  Required training/development,  School-level events, such as state testing and graduation.

This is a 12-month, full-time position.

Minimum Qualifications: 

Valid teaching certification and GAPSC educational leadership certification or currently enrolled in a leadership program. Must have received a rating of Effective or Highly Effective in the most recent performance reviews. 

Preferred Qualifications 

Previous experience in educational leadership, preferably as a teacher or coach.  Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.  Knowledge of curriculum development and instructional best practices, including STEAM and Project-Based Learning.  Proven ability to develop partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.  Commitment to student success and teacher support.  Must receive manager recommendation.  Possesses a positive customer service attitude in interactions with all stakeholders.  Flexible and willing to provide and receive constructive feedback.  Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.  Willingness to travel on occasion for marketing and state testing events (may require occasional overnight travel).  Must be able and willing to conduct and participate in collaborative meetings, professional development sessions, and events at the GACA office and/or other locations as needed.  The applicant should be prepared to attend events and meetings at the GACA office in Duluth, as well as travel to meet with students in different regions of the state throughout the year. 

Key Responsibilities 

Collaborate closely with the High School Principal and Assistant Principals on daily school-wide operations as an integral member of the High School Leadership Team. Manage the GACA STEAM Academy program, including:

○ Overseeing curriculum and instruction by monitoring lesson plans, conducting classroom observations, guiding instructional programming, and ensuring alignment with program goals and objectives. 

○ Leading recruitment and marketing efforts to promote the program and developing strategic growth plans aligned with program goals. 

○ Collaborating with Department Administrative Leads and the Middle School STEAM Lead to ensure seamless program continuity. 

○ Supervising the implementation of STEAM Advisement curriculum. 

○ Managing the STEM accreditation renewal process.

○ Assisting the High School Assistant Principal with the new student application process. ○ Coordinating summer extension programs, including STEAM Camp and summer course offerings.  

○ Engaging in fundraising and building partnerships to support program growth and enhancement. 

○ Tracking and analyzing data for students enrolled in the STEAM Academy. ○ Supporting the STEAM re-certification process. 

Oversee the expansion of new High School Academy programs for the 2025-2026 school year, including:

○ Managing the rollout of new Academy initiatives. 

○ Developing long-term strategic plans for the vision and growth of the Academy programs. 

○ Collaborating with Department Administrative Leads, content teachers, and Counseling staff to ensure effective program implementation.  

○ Leading recruitment and marketing efforts to promote the programs and developing strategic growth plans aligned with program goals. 

○ Monitoring and tracking data for students enrolled in Academy programs. 

Oversee the High School Honor Societies, including:

○ Coordinating programs to maintain consistency and high standards. 

○ Managing meeting schedules and recruitment timelines. 

○ Promoting existing programs and collaborating with Department Administrative Leads to develop new opportunities. 

○ Partnering with Counseling and STRIKE teams on student honors, awards, and related events. 

Support efforts to meet state and federal targets related to student achievement and readiness, with a focus on students participating in signature programs such as STEAM Academy. Assist with the planning and execution of major school events, including NASA Space Apps, Prom, Sneaker Ball, and collaborate with Counseling, Elective, CTAE, and Work-Based Learning teams for High School Advisory Council and 9th Grade Expo events. Observe, supervise, and evaluate staff as assigned, adhering to district policies and utilizing the TKES framework. Collect and analyze data pertaining to the school year task cycle such as homeroom contacts, grading, LiveLesson attendance to identify areas of improvement and strategies to enhance outcomes. Assist the High School Leadership Team with administrative duties pertaining to the planning, organization, oversight and leadership of programs, policies, procedures, and services. Actively pursue professional development, serve as a coach and mentor, and model a culture of high expectations, collaboration, and support. Diligently seek opportunities for professional development, act as a coach and sounding board, and serve as an organizational role model in cultivating a culture of high expectations and support. Assist the Principal and Assistant Principals with teacher recruitment and hiring efforts.  Other duties as assigned
