HIM Associate II

As our HIM Associate II, you will be responsible for health record deficiency completion as it relates to patient care, regulatory, compliance, legal and reimbursement activities, as well as birth certification completion and state registry updates. Your role will also involve auditing analyzed inpatient and outpatient medical records for required physician documentation for state and federal guidelines. Your role plays a crucial part in maintaining accurate and confidential health records. Every day you will collaborate with the patient access department, nursing units, coding department, and providers. To thrive in this role, you will need to be detail-oriented, organized, and passionate about handling sensitive information. You’ll use your prior experience with navigating multiple systems to collect patient information and enter it into multiple computer systems. You’ll use your excellent communication and interpersonal skills to answer questions from patients as well as physicians and their staff. The HIM Associate II needs to have demonstrated the ability to work well independently and in teams, have the ability to prioritize, multitask, work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while demonstrating good decision-making abilities. The HIM Associate II must have beginner skill level in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Please be advised, this is a full-time position. The associate will work 36-40 hours a week. The associate will be required to work onsite, Sunday through Thursday, 8am - 4:30pm CST at Ascension Sacred Heart Pensacola, 5150 N 9th Ave, Pensacola, FL 32504. The associate must be up to date on all vaccines (including but not limited to annual flu shot). We can help you with your vaccines at no cost to you. The associate will need to pass a background check and drug screen. 

Here is what you will experience working as an HIM Associate II:

Working the discharged, not final billed (DNFB) list to its conclusion

Interviewing patients for the purposes of birth certificate completion and entering the information into the electronic state registry as required

Entering and updating R1 software (epars, PAS, Chart Manager) for their specified functions of central business office requests, denials and DNFB activities

Monitoring the task queues for data integrity issues including duplicates, overlaps, and overlays as well as other data integrity issues

Resolving data integrity issues within the designated national or facility time frame

Initiating the medical record suspension process according to the facility and regulatory requirements

Performing medical record deficiency analysis and re-analysis to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the medical record 

Performing quantitative reviews of the medical record and monitor the quality of the functions of the global team

Maintaining data collection spreadsheets as required

Required Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED

For this US-based position, the base pay range is $15.00 - $20.55 per hour . Individual pay is determined by role, level, location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
