Responsible for Inpatient acute care coding medical records according to coding guidelines to ensure accurate and timely codes for bills to be processed. Reviews medical record documentation, assigns appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes, and investigates and resolves diagnosis coding issues. Assists in the maintenance of client billing records and statistics.


Principal Accountabilities:


1. Assigns codes in accordance with ICD - 10 Diagnoses and procedures for DRG assignment, to provide statistical information for research, reimbursement and analysis of quality of care.
2. Investigates and resolves coding issues.
3. Acts as a liaison between coding guidelines and codes.
4. Works closely with CDI Team.
5. Performs other related duties as assigned.
