Performs various duties to provide coverage and support the needs of the Health Information Management Department including but not limited to:Release Of Information: Receives and processes requests for the legal health record (paper & electronic), tracks, fulfills/denies requests within appropriate timelines, according to Sutter Health Policies, Federal and State Regulations, and Requirements. Follows up on incomplete/inaccurate/missing records as appropriate and coordinates retrieval of off-site records stored for Affiliates. This includes all of the following duties, but not limited to; answering phones, mail process, logging, copying records, abstracting information from records, faxing records, releasing records to authorized parties and invoicing requestors for copies. Functions as the Custodian of Records for ROI for the hospital.
Document Imaging: Ensures that documents are retrieved following rounding schedule. This process involves a variety of tasks including obtaining scanned documents, validating documents and sending documents to correct location for storage. Provides guidance to end users on appropriate document types, scanning methods, and equipment maintenance.
Chart Completion: Including analysis for qualitative and quantitative deficiencies, suspension audits, letters and processing.
EMPI: Combine and corrects folders following procedures for paper charts that have been identified and processed by S3 as a duplicate medical record numbers for affiliate.
Supports the success of a high-performing shared services organization by helping to champion and drive the long-term Sutter Shared Services vision. Helps foster an environment in which continuous improvement in business processes and services is welcomed and recognized. Participates in programs and in using tools in support of building a high performance culture via the standard Sutter Shared Services responsibilities (e.g. performance measurement, people development, customer relationship management, etc.).

CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE
RHIT-Registered Health Information Technician, preferred
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AS TYPICALLY ACQUIRED IN:
6 mos-2 years Demonstrated experience and proven track record in Health Information Management, hospital business operations, information systems, and applications. Demonstrated work experience working in multiple HIM functions. Experience participating in Release of Information/Document Imaging, Chart Completion/EMPI, processes, policies, procedures and service level agreement preferred.
6 mos-2 years Experience in health care and/or managed care electronic environment in health information / medical records. Experience in complex regional /shared service environment with multiple/matrix reporting relationships preferred.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Able to function in a fast-paced environment.
Proficient in-patient identification research using the Electronic Health Record System.
Working knowledge of medical terminology.
Strong, demonstrated knowledge of PC's, Windows based environment and Microsoft Outlook are required. Systems to be used will include Sutter Electronic Health Record and scanning vendor software (On-Base), and other legacy systems required to access for release of information.
Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be extremely detail oriented.
Knowledge of health information management, privacy and security guidelines for release of information.
Knowledge of Sutter Electronic Health Record In-basket.
Ability to review record and verify patient identification.
Ability to read up to 4 pt. font, and adjust focus.
1 yr. work experience analyzing charts on paper.
Report software issues in written format to manager as they may occur.
Ability to use mouse, especially right-clicking function, proficiently.
Ability to use keyboard proficiently.
Ability to read 4 pt. size font on computer screen.
Ability to work in open office space.

Pay Range is $30.15 to $40.46 / hourThe salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled.
