The technician must possess a working knowledge of anatomy and the ability to handle the psychological aspects of the job, while maintaining confidentiality and adhering to biohazard measures

High School Diploma or GED EquivalentKnowledge of anatomy as applied to performing autopsiesAbility to physically perform job functions, including lifting and moving decedentsScheduling Requirements:

Assist Pathologists and Medical Examiners with autopsies and external examinations.Collect and label evidentiary materials including toxicology and laboratory samplesMaintain instruments, formalin, solutions, containers, equipment, and supplies for autopsiesSet up supplies and equipment for use during autopsies.Weigh and measure bodies, maintaining the overall appearance of the morgueTake muscle, skin, bone, and tissue samples for later use.Handle contaminated specimens and biological hazardous waste appropriately.Establish and maintain effective working relationships with hospital staff, law enforcement, and funeral directors.
