Located on the 4th floor of the Poole building, the lab features stunning views of La Jolla, state-of-the-art equipment and digital pathology workflows. The Histology Manager will oversee 30 team members that make up both the histology and digital pathology teams, supporting 30 pathologists systemwide. Responsibilities include: * Oversight and leadership of the activities and functions of Histology and Digital Pathology related services. * Provide expertise in all areas of the department to include, but not limited to: H&E, special stains, Immunohistochemistry, Immunofluorescent, and CISH staining. * Participate in department strategic planning and contributes to success through effectively communicating goals and expectations to staff. * Ensure effective use of system resources. * Serve as reference to staff, Pathologists, and others in laboratory leadership. * Ensure expenses do not exceed budget. * Participate in standards of practice and process improvement activities. * Oversee staffing matrices and possesses authority to hire, conduct performance evaluations, and discipline employees. * Ensure policy and procedures are followed by staff. * Ensure compliance with all regulating agencies. * Responsible for day to day laboratory operations for histology related services serving multiple hospitals and clinics. * Participate in system committees regarding laboratory services and improvements. #LI-KL1 The following are not eligible for hiring incentives: * Internal candidates * Rehires that left Scripps less than 3 years ago * Candidates with less than 1 year of experience In order to remain eligible for your retention incentive the following criteria must be met : * Must remain in original hired FTE Status and Shift (if specified in offer letter) * Must remain in original department/specialty * Must remain in original Job Title * Transfers to other locations will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and may result in forfeiting remaining incentive bonus unless specifically noted in your offer letter. *Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:* * Bachelor's degree plus 5 years experience in a histology laboratory, at least 1 of which in leadership. ** *Required Certification/Registration:* * Histotechnician, HT(ASCP) or Histotechnologist, HTL(ASCP) ** *Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:* * Master's degree * QIHC(ASCP) certification * CAP inspection experience * Hospital or clinical lab experience **Job:** **Lab* **Organization:** **Scripps Clinic* **Title:** *Histology Manager - La Jolla * **Location:** *Central San Diego County-SAN DIEGO-SCRIPPS MEDICAL LABORATORY* **Requisition ID:** *242005627*
