Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 6:00am - 2:30pm

Job Responsibilities:

Assist the supervisor with the day to day operations of the Histology departmentSend daily, weekly and monthly productions reports to managementAssist with the training of new hires and the development of current employeesKeep supervisor informed of group progress, problems, employee performance and any significant factors affecting assigned responsibilitiesDetermine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteriaPerform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to SOPsMonitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionalityPrepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controlsReport accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient carePerform and document preventive maintenance and quality control proceduresIdentify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessaryAssist with processing of specimens when neededMaintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment

 Requirements:

Associates or Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or meet local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirementsHistology and/or ASCP certifications are preferred Minimum 3 years of experience as a Histotechnician/HistotechnologistPrior supervisory or leadership experience is a plusFamiliarity with routine histology procedures and equipmentImmunohistochemistry experience is a plusComfortability embedding both large and small specimensExperience working in a high volume laboratory environment is desirableFamiliarity with laboratory SOPs and safety protocolsProficient with Laboratory Information Systems and Microsoft OfficeStrong communication skills; both written and verbalHigh level of attention to detail with strong organizational skillsComfortability making decisions in a changing environmentMust be able to pass a standardized color vision screenAbility to handle the physical requirements of the position
