Overview HIstology Tech Job Summary
The Histology technician prepares microscopic slides of excellent quality from human tissue samples obtained in surgery.
They perform all routine and many complex procedures involved in daily operations of the histopathology lab.
Performs clerical, maintenance duties and quality control checks.
They assist the pathologist with daily procedures and tasks.
An Associate Degree of applied science or in a related science (Biology, Chemistry, etc.) with one to two years of experience in a histology laboratory.
Worked in a Pathology department prior to 1983 and certified as a histology technician through a grandfather clause.
