Histology Technician (Histotechnician)

This individual will be responsible for preparing and staining tissue specimens among other tests and applications of histology for microscopic examination and diagnosis by a Pathologist in compliance with applicable regulations.

 

Position Details:

Schedule: Monday to Friday 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM (some schedule flexibility available following training)Compensation: $28-31/hrBenefits: Competitive benefits package available including health, vision, and dental insurance, 401k matching, paid time off, and more Responsibilities Completes routine tissue trimming, processing, embedding, sectioning, and slide staining.Operates and maintains general laboratory equipment.Maintains a safe, clean, work environment.Prepares, handles, and disposes of laboratory solutions and reagents.Troubleshoots equipment and process issues.Maintains study and department records using good documentation practices.Consistently follows instructions/SOPs and minimizes rework.Collaborates with the Pathology and Necropsy TeamsAssists in training new staff.Assists in planning of laboratory work schedule to meet study on time delivery and expected turnaround times.Participates in data review.Assists in document review and the updating of SOPs and forms.Stains slides with special stains as requested.Orders and maintains an adequate amount of supplies.Works on routine assignments per written procedures, where ability to recognize deviation from accepted practice is required.Normally receives minimal instructions on routine work and detailed instructions on new assignments.Work under close supervision from supervisor or senior personnel.Ability to work in a team environment and independently as required.May be required to work Holidays and weekends.May be required to work overtime. May assist with process and equipment qualifications and validations.May have interaction with clients and/or auditors.Contributes to the overall operations and to the achievement of departmental goals.Thorough understanding of Good Laboratory Practices and Good Manufacturing Practices.Other duties as assigned.May be required to assist in other departments Qualifications

Experience / Education

Minimum 1 year of experienceAssociates Degree or equivalent

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

Demonstrate consistent productivity and meet deadlinesAbility to consistently follow instructions/ Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)Proficient in Oral & Written communication skillsNeed to be able to read, write and understand EnglishProficient in Microsoft (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Physical Requirements:
