Position Summary:

Performs histology procedures.

Reports to: Supervisor, Lab

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Performs procedures/ protocols in Cytology, Histology, and Pathology.Drag Edit DeleteReceives and assigns accession numbers to tissue and fluid specimens and logs them into the AP computer system.Drag Edit DeleteProcesses curettings and routine TUR and bone marrow specimens. Reports any abnormal or suspicious appearing specimens.Drag Edit DeletePrepares sections of body tissue specimens by fixation, decalcification, dehydration, and embedding for examination by a pathologist.Drag Edit DeleteMaintains work area in a safe, aseptic and organized manner.Drag Edit DeletePerforms and monitors quality control, calibration, and corrective/ preventative maintenance on equipment, instruments, and tests.Drag Edit DeleteParticipates in the evaluation of new techniques/ instruments/ equipment and in researching/ developing new procedures.
