Position Description

Assists Pathology Department with a variety of vital functions including the work activities in the Histology Lab, Cytology and Morgue. This position provides organizational and technical support to the histology technicians and pathology laboratory technical assistants to ensure proper preparation of receiving, preparing and processing surgical and/or cytology specimens. This position ensures that there is compliance with established protocols and guidelines for the pathology operations.

Position Requirements

REQUIRED:
1. All applicants should meet at least one (1) of the following education/experience requirements:

a. Successful completion of a formal histology technologist training program, and ten (10) years experience in histology laboratory techniques and procedures, OR

b. B.S. degree in Histology.

2. Minimum service at Northside Hospital should be two (2) years. If applicant has previous supervisory experience, the option to hire them at the level of Lead Histology Tech will be considered.

3. Attention to detail, good physical dexterity, and good written and oral communication skills.

4. Applicants must demonstrate skills as described in the promotion path guidelines

PREFERRED:
1. Computer keyboard and information system experience. 2. Immuno chemistry experience and/or training. 3. In house applicants have Histology Technician II status. 4. B.S. degree in science, plus successful completion of a formal histology technologist training program.
