Histotechnician
We are seeking a Histotechnician to join the LabCorp team where we are dedicated to providing the highest quality medical laboratory services.  Come work in our Pathology laboratory at Portland OR. Alongside a highly trained staff with the latest technology.  Our services are performed with the utmost care, expertise, integrity and respect for the patient.

Location: 1225 North East 2nd Avenue, Portland, OR

Schedule: Monday – Friday 5:00AM-1:30PM

Responsibilities
 

Process human tissue and body fluid specimens in preparation for microscopic examPerform technical duties related to the production of histopathological slides of surgical specimensSection the embedded tissue, using a microtome and mount the section properly on a microscope slidePerform various immunohistochemical tests on formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue sectionsProcess mounted sections through routine and special staining proceduresProperly orient and embed surgical tissue specimensPrepare the stains and reagents needed for special proceduresReport accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient careOperate and maintain manual and automated instrumentsPerform and document equipment maintenance as neededRecord equipment log data in an accurate and timely mannerPerform and document preventive maintenance and quality control proceduresAdhere to the laboratory's quality control policiesFollow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, analysis and reportingDocument problems that may affect test performance and perform corrective actions when needed
 

Requirements
 

High school diploma or equivalent is requiredAssociate's or Bachelor's Degree is preferredASCP Histology certification PreferredAbility to meet CLIA requirementsExperience with routine histology procedures and equipmentImmunohistochemistry experience is a plusComfortability embedding both large and small specimensAbility to accurately read all labels and documentsAbility to work independently within a team and strong attention to detailExperience working in a high volume laboratory environment is desirableFamiliarity with laboratory SOPs and safety protocol
