RESPONSIBILITIES **JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:** • Performs histologic techniques, routine and special staining and preparation of cytologic specimens. **TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:** • Standing, sitting, finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, speaking. • Continuous: static gripping of an object for prolonged periods. • Frequent: walking, twisting body, reaching above and at shoulder level, repetitive arm/hand motions. • Occasional: standing, stooping/bending, climbing stairs, walking on uneven ground, lifting weight of 10 pounds up to 50 pounds. **TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:** • Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions. • Exposure to blood and body fluids, chemicals, communicable diseases and other hazardous materials. • Exposure to fumes from formaldehyde, xylene and alcohol. **MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:** **EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:** • Current certification as Histotechnician HT(ASCP) or Histotechnologist HTL(ASCP) with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP). **EXPERIENCE:** • One (1) year recent work experience as a histology technician desirable.
