HMMS Environmental Program Specialist II

Qualifications:

The specialist’s experience, education, and training must show enough of the knowledge, skills and abilities to demonstrate the potential to successfully perform the duties of the position.  Specifically, the specialist may be evaluated on:

Knowledge of operations, mission, command structure and guidance regulations of the specific site requesting the position.Knowledge of inventory procedures and the processes necessary to reconcile discrepancies.Knowledge of requisitioning, shipping, receiving, storage, and disposition of supplies/equipment.Skilled in operating automated equipment such as computer terminals and bar code readers/wands.Knowledge of Hazardous Materials and/or Hazardous Waste.Knowledge of advanced Hazardous Material Management System (HMMS) functions.Ability to type a minimum of 35 wpm.

Major Duties:

The specialist will provide general customer support in the HMMS program on site.  Additionally, the specialist will possess the ability to perform (at the discretion of the site POC) the following duties:

Act as an application expert assisting the site with the general operation of the HMMS system.Provide research and problem-solving support as related to HMMS functions and capability.Responsible for processing, control, and coordination of documents authorizing the movement, storage, shipment, and issue of hazardous materials and waste.Assist in data cleanup and conversion activities inherent to any HMMS software release and update.Assures incoming material matches that of the accompanying documentation and has been entered correctly into HMMS.Assist the HazMat Cell and Receiving Center personnel with HMMS material inventory and to reconcile collected data in HMMS. Review and validate Local Purchase Request/Purchase Card Request prior to approval by local authorizing authority.Assist with Form 3952 (Material Authorization Request) review and validation.Assist with Order Request review and validation.Assist with h Purchase Card review and validation.Possess knowledge of the site’s local supply ordering systems for research and reconciling HMMS data.Use Adhoc tools to provide reports and inventories as requested.Provide general support in the operation of such HMMS peripherals as label printers, portable data collections devices (PDAs), scanners, scales, workstations, etc.Assist the site system administrator, database administrator or system operators to ensure and validate HMMS system data backup routines execute properly.Accomplish general recording keeping and filing in accordance with site policies and procedures as assigned by local authority.Performs other duties as assigned.Travel may be required.

Working Conditions:

Work is generally performed inside an office environment. However, some warehouse work may be required. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

Training:

The specialist may be required to complete training courses identified by Sphera and/or the government site as essential to job performance and may include (but not limited to) the following:

HMMS Administration (taught by Sphera)Issue Point/Receiving Training (taught by Sphera)Waste Generators/Managers (taught by Sphera)Worker Right to KnowSphera Corporate Training

Government Required Training

Pay:

$40,000.00 - $60,000.00
