Job Summary

We are looking for an innovative and driven individual to join our team as a Database Analyst Programmer Intermediate for the Michigan Hospital Medicine Safety Consortium (HMS). HMS is a Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and Blue Care Network funded Collaborative Quality Initiative. We are a data-driven collaborative made up of hospitals across the State of Michigan with a goal of improving the quality of care for hospitalized medical patients. 

As a part of the HMS Coordinating Center, you will collaborate with a dynamic team, including another data analyst and three statisticians, and will report to the HMS Program Manager. HMS currently has 68 hospitals/program participants with potential for future expansion.

 Other duties as assigned.Required Qualifications*Masters degree in related fields or bachelors degree with 4+ years relevant experience.Proficiency in Python and SAS with experience in maintaining large complex datasets.Familiarity with version control systems like GIT, Subversion or similar software.Proficient in creating complex SQL queries.Preparing and maintaining technical documentation of data and analysis files.At least one year of experience with visual analytic software (i.e. Business Objects, Tableau, etc.) and two years with survey design.Proficient in integration of statistical models into visualization tools.Proficient in analyzing problems and determine root causesProficient in presenting technical information to fellow technical and non-technical professionalsProven success in a collaborative, team-oriented environmentWillingness to travel within Michigan 2-3 times a year for collaborative meetings.Desired Qualifications*Experience in healthcare quality improvement and electronic health records.Familiarity with Agile software development, relational databases, and healthcare data integration technologies like HL7.Maintain, clean, and organize data sets to optimize performance, efficiency, and usefulness.Experience with LimeSurvey.Modes of Work

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
