The Train Ride at Grand Canyon Railway's Historic Williams Depot is a LIVE, interactive event based on the film by Warner Bros, where we bring the movie to life! About the Role! We are casting for the HOBO character role which is a full time seasonal role from 11/01/2024 to 12/31/2024 at the Grand Canyon Railway in Williams, Arizona.The Hobo is a strange man who calls himself the "King of the North Pole" and lives on the top of the train. The “Hobo” character is responsible for creating the magic of the Polar Express. The “Hobo” will wonder around property and will be part of the skit(s) performed nightly. Responsibilities Fully understand and support Xanterra Mission Statement and Core Values. Memorize narrations and authentically portrays the Hobo Character role for the duration of the nightly production. Appropriately and patiently interacts with children and adults of all ages, handles children and adults on a one on one basis or in crowds of large quantities, while maintaining audience control. Professionally handles stressful situations in a public setting and resolves guest related issues in a professional and timely manner, offering additional assistance to guests in need. This character may be at times responsible for bio-hazard clean-ups. Works as a team player, establishes and maintains an effective professional working relationship with co-workers, directors, and other departments; working together in a positive work environment. Maintains schedule flexibility, working scheduled shifts to include days, evenings, weekends and holidays. Shifts are 6+/- hours per day. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Must possess good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate professionally, effectively and clearly face-to-face. Must be at least 16 year of age. Previous experience in theatrical role playing, is a plus. Customer Service experience in a hospitality industry, is a plus. Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly standing, handling, squatting/kneeling, bending, and lifting/carrying items up to 20bs. Frequently walking, reaching outward, climbing, lifting/carrying items up to 50lbs and pushing/pulling up to 25lbs. Occasionally sitting, reaching above shoulder, crawling, lifting/carrying items weighing up to 100lbs and pushing/pulling items weighing up to 100 lbs. Constantly listening, hearing, seeing, and speaking. Will be required to stand and walk for long periods of time on cement floors and to occasionally walk on uneven surfaces. Costume Requirements: Hobo costume is provided by the company. Outerwear must be of solid black color with no visible logos or prints representing any other organization, company or product other than Grand Canyon Railway or Xanterra Parks and Resorts.
