Position Summary Information
Position Summary
Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania invites applications for the Assistant Professor in the Computing and Security Department beginning August 2025. The Computing and Security Department at Slippery Rock University offers a BS in Homeland Security and a BS in Corporate Security with concentrations in Organizational Security and Fraud. SRU is seeking a candidate to fill a tenure track teaching position in the Bachelor of Science in Homeland Security. Teaching assignment will include instructing courses in homeland security. Duties will also include committee work at departmental, college, and/or university levels, academic advising, and scholarly activities including research that may involve undergraduate students.
Minimum Qualifications
A PhD in Homeland Security, Intelligence Studies, or a closely related field/discipline.
Prior teaching experience either face-to-face or online.
Perceived ability to work productively with students and colleagues is required.
Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to the education of diverse populations. Successful performance in an on-campus interview, including teaching demonstration is also required.
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with online teaching software.
Strong preference will be given to candidates with a Masters in one of the Subdisciplines of Homeland Security and/or work experience in a homeland security-related field.
Preference will also be given to candidates demonstrating familiarity with a broad range of assessment techniques, the use of instructional technology in the teaching-learning process, and the role of faculty in student success, recruitment, and retention.
Teaching experience in the field of homeland security.
