Hoosier Energy Utility Forester/Work Planner

This work will be conducted on Hoosier Energy. **“** **The pay range for this position is from** **$21.50 to $27.50** **per hour, contingent upon relevant education, experience, and industry-specific certifications.** **This specified range is determined by the tier associated with the job posting. However, should the employee be classified under a different tier, the compensation may fall outside the stated range.”** **WHAT WE OFFER:** + Industry competitive pay. + Company vehicle with a fuel card for work purposes. + Day 1 of Employment: Medical/Dental/Vision/VOYA/Vacation Accrual/Paid Holidays/EAP (Full-Time Employees). + After 3 months: 401K, life insurance, short and long-term disability, Paid Maternity Leave. + Paid Sick Time. + Weekly Pay Cycle. + Participation in Referral Bonus Program. + Boot and clothing program (Full-Time Employees). + Ongoing training and assistance with obtaining industry certifications. **WHAT YOU WILL DO:** + This role will be responsible for vegetation work planning on Transmission systems that will include scheduled maintenance, aerial saw, mowing, and herbicide planning. + Communicate the reasons and benefits of utility vegetation line clearance to property owners. + Prepare efficient/concise work plans for contracted utility vegetation crews within a designated territory. + Notify property owners of vegetation clearance work to be performed. + Handle customer complaints related to the scheduled and/or completed pruning. + Inspect and assess customer requests for pruning or removals. + Audit tree contractor's work for compliance with utility's specifications. + Secure clear rights-of-way for new-line and pole construction. + Assist in storm and emergency situations and other miscellaneous line clearance projects. + Extensive communication daily with the utility client, contractors, landowners, and general public. + Perform duties in a manner that will promote and maintain good public relations. + Assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned. **WHAT YOU NEED TO HAVE:** + Minimum two+ years prior experience in Utility Vegetation Management. + Must be able to identify local tree species, including hazardous trees. + Must be able to read maps. + Ability to work alone or as part of a team. + Must have exceptional written and verbal communication skills, strong problem-solving abilities, the ability to multi-task and show attention to detail. + Must be able to mitigate conflict and escalate customer issues. + Must be able to adapt to change. + Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions and terrain. + Must have basic computer skills (Microsoft Office) **WHAT WOULD BE AMAZING TO HAVE:** + Associate or Bachelor’s degree in forestry, Environmental Services, or related field a plus. + Prior experience in Herbicide and Aerial Saw planning and support is a plus. + ISA certification is a plus. + Prior GIS software/technology experience is a plus. + Bi-lingual speaking (English and Spanish) is a plus. **Working Environment** Work alone in an outdoor field environment; vehicle and foot patrol of utility power lines; remote locations as well as urban, city environment; physical demands and travel from site to site, including walking/hiking on various surfaces including flat, dry, wet, slippery, uneven, rough, steep terrain, hills, and slopes; exposure to noise, dust, grease, and all types of weather and temperature conditions; exposure to hazardous traffic conditions.
