Compensation: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour

General Purpose: Participates in the construction and maintenance of the grounds. Maintains landscaping for facility grounds and is responsible for the maintenance of the grounds.   Essential Duties: Provides care and maintenance of the turf, ornamental plants, shrubs, and trees on the facility grounds including pruning, trimming, root feeding and pest control. Assists staff on the planting of new vegetation, the replacement and spraying of trees and shrubs, and tending to high stress areas especially during the summer months. Maintains detailed annual plans for the seasonal rotation of plants, flowers, etc., in the facility’s various landscaped areas and flowerbeds resulting in fresh, eye-catching and pleasant flower and plant displays. Stays attuned with current fertilizer and pesticide application. Participates in the application of fertilizers and pesticides. Prepares soil plant beds, established by seed or transplants, and maintains annual perennial flowers in aesthetically pleasing arrangements. Participates the operation of mechanical and power equipment utilized in the maintenance of ornamental plants and trees. Coordinates snow removal (where applicable). Assists in the management of department members that may include, but is not limited to: Landscapers, Foreman. Assists in developing ongoing training programs. Assists in monitoring business volume forecast and plans accordingly in areas of manpower, productivity, costs and other expenses. Incorporates safe work practices in job performance. Performs other duties as required. Education/Experience: Associate’s degree (AA); or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Physical Demands: Regularly stands, walks and sits. Regularly uses hands; reaches with arms and hands; talks or hears. Occasionally climbs or balances; stoops, kneels, crouches or crawls; tastes or smells. Regularly lifts up to 50 pounds. Environment/Noise: Occasionally works in wet or humid conditions (non-weather); works near moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals. Frequently works in outdoor weather conditions. Noise level is moderate. Certificates/Licenses: Valid Driver’s License Pesticide Application License Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Preferences: Ability to read and speak English may be required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g. the associates may be required to communicate with English speaking customers or co-workers, the manuals for the equipment the associates may use are in English).
