Position Summary

The Hospice Aide (Union S-SVC) is responsible for modeling the Compassus values of Compassion, Integrity, Excellence, Teamwork, and Innovation and for promoting the Compassus philosophy, using the 6 Pillars of Success as the foundation. S/he is responsible for upholding the Code of Ethical Conduct and for promoting positive working relationships within the company, among all departments, and all external stakeholders. The Hospice Aide (Union S-SVC) is responsible for giving personal care of the ill/aged and performs light housekeeping, in accordance with agency policies as scheduled.


Position Specific Responsibilities

Provides personal care of the ill/aged and performs light housekeeping, in accordance with agency policies as scheduled.Performs a variety of routine clerical duties such as alphabetizing of patient forms and preparing types of folders for patient care and the like in the afternoon.Assists with Hospice Aide scheduling and supply distribution as requested.Performs other duties as assigned.


Education and/or Experience

High School Diploma or GED highly preferred.Completion of a formal training program (which must include minimum of 75 hours of combination of classroom and supervised practical training) and/or written and practical competency evaluation.Minimum six (6) to twelve (12) months experience as a nursing aide in a hospital, extended care facility, or Home Health agency preferred.


Skills

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from leaders, team members, investors, and external parties. Strong written and verbal communications.Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to understand, read, write, and speak English. Articulates and embraces integrated healthcare at home philosophy.Other Skills and Abilities: Minimum independent judgement. Work is performed with established procedures, but employee must organize their work, select proper equipment and supplies.Other Skills and Abilities: Working Conditions: Approximately eighty percent of work time in car and patient's homes. Home environments unpredictable. Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail up to fifty percent of the time. Ability to stand, bend and walk less than twenty percent of the time (clerical duties). Substantial levels requiring lifting and positioning patients (20%-50%) of work time. and /or bendiing, standing, and walking (more than 80% of work time (aide duties). Occasional (6-20% of work time) exposure to patients with possible infectious diseases. A medium-heavy physical workload demand based on a Mercy Industrial Rehab. Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations

Maintain Homemaker/Hospice Aide certification and CPR certification in accordance with hospital policies.Current Ohio driver's license and automobile insurance with $100,000 - $300,000 liability is necessary.


Physical Demands and Work Environment: The demands of this role necessitate a team member to effectively perform essential functions. Adaptations can be made to accommodate team members with disabilities. Regular standing, walking, and manual dexterity are fundamental, along with the ability to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds. Visual acuity requirements include close and distance vision, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. In a healthcare setting, exposure to bodily fluids, infectious diseases, and conditions typical to the field is expected. Routine use of standard medical equipment and tools associated with clinical care is essential.
