Each resident, staff member and community member will be treated in a dignified manner with respect, kindness, and understanding. Employees will subscribe to the organization’s commitment to continuous improvement of quality and service The position is primarily responsible for provision of spiritual support to resident’s/family’s desire and belief system. Job Duties Provides spiritual support and/or counsel to patients/families/staff in keeping with residents’/families’/staffs’ beliefs. Contacts clergy or appropriate representatives of residents/families as indicated. Develops and maintains a resource group of clergies to whom specific aspects of spiritual care may be delegated. Documents spiritual support information clearly and concisely in a timely manner. Provides or participates in staff and volunteer training to enhance their sensitivity to the spiritual concerns of residents/families experiencing terminal illness and loss.. Performs occasional liturgical assignments such as an annual memorial service. Conducts or decides for a funeral or memorial service when indicated. Job Requirements Graduate of accredited seminary or school of theology or appropriate certification in hospital or pastoral ministry. Demonstrated ability to be open, sensitive, flexible and ecumenical. Demonstrated experience in working with patients/families dealing with life-threatening illness and death.
